Article-"Cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence"
Published On-26 April 2022 in TOI

The aim in life is really important because an aimless person is like a rudderless ship in the sea and does not know the direction of their destination. Likewise, if we also don’t have an aim in our life, we won’t know where to reach. So if you want to be successful and do something in your life then you just need to pick an aim. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar truly said "Cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence. " But now a days no one wants to learn new things to cultivate the mind instead everyone is looking for easy solutions and don't even want to upgrade. Update yourself and try to learn from their journey of each and every person you meet in life. There's tons of knowledge out there. -Peace is not in a place: peace is an attitude of mind.- Almost all our worries, grief, unpleasantness and the like are our mental projections as we identify ourselves with our ego. We must learn to ignore our activated memories, pleasant or unpleasant and associated happy or unhappy moods, feelings or thoughts. They all have to be managed by smart handling of mind. The dictum, “Ignorance is Bliss”, instructs this reality. Here ignorance does not refer to lack of knowledge but to the ability to neglect. We must have faith in us and the Almighty. Faith removes doubts arising out of reasoning or logic and clears the mind; strengthens its resolve. Faith gives peace and motivation. Thus, as most of our unpleasantness is the result of and caused by, vagaries of mind, we must make our mind our friend and not allow it to master us. It can be achieved through our diligence and efforts. Negation of absent mindedness is presence of mind. In order to avoid accidents, it is necessary to cultivate presence of mind. Accidents cannot be escaped easily. So, while driving a vehicle, presence of mind is needed. It means that a person should have a cool mind even in emergency. He should not lose his balance of mind. It is just equal to not losing one’s head. In order to have presence of mind, reasoning should be imbibed. This quality can be had only if one has a strong control over one’s nerves. The mind under these circumstances will direct his actions and he will avoid doing anything wrong. It is the lack of presence of mind that a person is unable to overcome fear, anxiety or excitement. As a result of absentmindedness, persons do and say silly things in their fright and haste. It is generally some sudden danger or threat of danger that causes people to lose their heads. In whatever walk of life a person is he must have presence of mind. An officer is fit for his chair only if he does not lose his head in the face of serious problems. A driver while driving a vehicle in crowded streets can cause accident if he loses his presence of mind. Similarly, a businessman can suffer heavy losses if he is not able to cope with the trend of the market. Presence of mind is a natural gift.‘ You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the sea’… People are fortunate who have been blessed with this boon. This quality in them may save them from taking a wrong step which might mean ruin to them and others. Some people who are not having this gift can cultivate it. The main thing needed is controlling emotions constantly. We must deliberately check and restrain ourselves from being carried away by our feelings. In case of danger, anxiety, excessive gift or excessive joy, it is only a check on our inner urge that can save us from being involved in a risk. A doctor treating a patient, a mechanic handling a machine and an electrician making electrical connections can cause a great deal of damage if they lose their presence of mind. These persons must remain cool and calm while doing their work, otherwise wreaks will result. A candidate appearing at an examination can rain his career if he loses presence of mind. A mathematician will do wrong solutions of the problems when he is absent minded. In order to avert dangers at critical points or moments, it is the presence of mind that is helpful to a person. It is, however, possible for nervous and excitable people to cultivate presence of mind. The great thing is constantly to practice controlling emotions. We must deliberately check and restrain ourselves from being carried away by our feelings such as anger, fear, anxiety, excessive grief or excessive joy.We must keep a tight rein on those fiery steeds, the passions. If we thus develop a habit of self-restraint, we shall all be able to keep ourselves cool and calm in the face of danger. To conclude, we must say that under all emergencies, it is the quality of presence of mind that helps man come out of these odds with a flying colour.

Published On-22 April 2022 in TOI

The earth don’t belong to us. We belong to Earth. The earth provides for everyone need, not everyone’s greed. Humans need to remember that they don’t create or sustain Mother Earth, Mother Earth creates and sustains us, Instead of seeking to dominate and control Earth, we need to respect and coopercits with Earth inhabitants We are destroying our ecosystem by cutting trees, wasting water and polluting. Mother earth provides us shelter, land water minerals medicines, trees and air which is so essential. Instead of being thankful we are distrupting environment, Mother Earth protect us from Sun through ozone layer and we are damaging it which causes damage to us. Our individual efforts and actions will help us restoring the earth. We all should have spirit of sustainable development, Trees are the man’s best friend, We should plant more trees and encourage social awareness programs like Vanmahotsav. Also growing a plant is not to difficult and you require quite less space bit if you can’t sure you can plant microgreens Secondly we need to minimise depletion of natural resources and minerals, We need to take a pledge to make a lifestyle change that would definitely make an imprict on our ecosystem, All of humanity must work together to re-establish harmony with mother Earth. So, when we do our part to protect the Environment we are helping ourselves because we will enjoy clean air and water etc. All beings are connected with nother earth like blood which unites one family, So we can conclude that Nature doesn’t need us but we need nature.

Published On-22 April 2022 in TOI

As rightly said by Ernest Hemingway ``There is no friend as loyal as a book”. They never complain, nor do they make any demands. It gives solace to the aching hearts and makes them forget the worries of life for sometime. Even a pensive reader finds himself lost in the imagery world for some time when one reads books. Our books are always there for us; they are our most loyal friends. In this fast time and age of the e-world, claiming that you read books may stir shocking glances and remarks from people around you. Evolution from paper to e-books has helped people in this busy and super-fast life to find time for books. Don’t worry, it has always been this way since the concept of reading and writing began. However, unlike the ancient times where reading and writing was a rich man’s affair, nowadays anybody can get access to books of their choice. Books are our best friends. The physical friends can leave us but the books never leave us. A book has a power of knowledge displaying which you can be termed as an intellectual or wise person. The beautiful thing is that one is not constrained to any age limit for books, it can be enjoyed at any age. Books have a life of their own and that life is immortal. Humans are born and death is inevitable to us, but books go on forever. Books and its teaching, acts as a guide to a person throughout his life. Books have gone through many forms in the process of evolution. From manuscripts in palm leaves, to writing in the bark of leaves. Inscriptions on copper plates, rocks etc. acted as a source of information in ancient times. Form of books might have changed but it has not affected its charm. Lastly, I would like to say that we all must thank Marco Polo, the French traveller who enlightened people by inventing the paper and making them use their energies and free time.

Published On-24 Jan 2022 in TOI

It is rightly said by a wise person, “Your words mean nothing when your actions are completely opposite.” More than 138 million people who blindly trust our leaders get swayed by false hopes, false promises made by them during election proceedings. They forget that their promises may be false but the emotions of people are real. Recently, a political party targeted women by promising that they will be given 1000 Rs/- every month if they vote for them. They may be still assuming that by alluring the so called weaker sex they will be successful in their motives. They might be in misapprehension, as the woman of today is well read and understands her rights and responsibilities. We fail to understand that from where will they be getting money to fulfill their promises? Befooling people and playing with their sentiments seem to be the mere purpose of politics today. Crore of rupees are being spent on Election campaigns which could have been spent on the welfare of the poor. What is this assurance or allurance? Will they themselves bear this expenditure? The government today is only alluring people and trying to utilize the funds of the country to spend on their ridiculous commitments, instead of making it in use for the welfare of the country. Today, a few politicians have become egocentric and keep their interests before the nation’s growth. The one who has power is considered the conqueror. It is high time; we must learn a lesson and not let them target the women, the children and the senior citizens. The only change to be done in politics is to substitute the corruptive thoughts of politicians with the positive thoughts. They should authentically think about the welfare of the country and provide facilities to people not to earn their votes but to win their trust.

Published On-06 Jan 2022 in TOI

If I were a passenger, I would never dare to tap a taxi driver. It was a usual and pleasant day; I was getting late for my drama class so I decided to take a taxi because my bike was not in a good condition. After waiting for 2-3 minutes the taxi arrived. On the way, I tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question. The driver shouts aloud, car gets out of control and nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath, and stopped inches away from a shop window. For a second there was complete silence in the cab, then the driver said, “Ma’am please, don’t you ever do that again. You nearly killed me!” I apologized for his tap and said, “Sorry, I didn’t know that a little tap would scare you so much.” The cab driver replied, “No Ma’am, It’s not you. Actually, today is my first day as a cab driver, I used to drive a funeral van for the last 25 years and no one tapped.” After the incident I walked rest of the way to my drama class, was not able to forget driver’s words and made me laugh out loud “NO DOUBT THE INCIDENT WAS SCARY BUT DRIVER’S WORDS WERE MORE KILLING!”

Published On-04 Jan 2022 in TOI

" Throwing food is like stealing from those who are poor and hungry this" this quote is rightly said by Pope Francis as, there are many people in our country who are not getting food because of the people who are having in abundance are just wasting or have thrown piles of piles in their godowns to rott. Many children and people despite of UN guidelines or strategies have to eat food from dustbins, after eating that they suffer from diseases that results in death. Many other people who are getting food waste money to buy costly and unhealthy food from Mc donalds, starbugs and various other food places, they are being getting right to eat food but they are not eating food of right quality, and on other hand poor people are not getting chance to eat food and if they are getting they are not getting nutrious food. More than the quantity of food quality or nutrition it provides is more important, so we all should not full or stomach eating unhealthy food but should eat healthy food for our good development, and nutritional food should be provided to everyone through our efforts and goverments too.

Published On-29 Dec 2021 in TOI

Last year before lockdown we got an opportunity to visit Amritsar. The city is located in the State of Punjab in India. Amritsar is one of the most developed cities in India. In the early morning, I started the journey with my family by our own car. After reaching our destination, we decided to visit Golden Temple first. The Golden Temple is known as Sri Harmandir Sahib. It is the glory and heritage of Sikhs. The amazing temple with a gilded dome using pure gold. When we entered the temple, we all were mesmerized to see the beauty of the temple. We prayed there for some time and got a lot of inner peace. From there we went to Jallianwala Bagh. Jalianwala Bagh is a historic garden and ‘memorial of national importance’ in Amritsar. A museum, gallery and a number of memorial structures are there. This place left me with the deep sense of grief and immense pride of belongings to a nation. Amritsar is also known for its quality food items. After visiting these two historical places, we got very tired and hungry. Then we decided to take a lunch break. We ate Chola – Kulcha in a very famous Kesar Dhaba of Amritsar. After that we went to visit Wagah Border which is located on the highway between Amritsar and Lahore. It is famous for its Flag Retreat Ceremony. It is definitely something I have never seen before. The competitive cheering between the two nations, with each shout getting louder on both sides, also gave me chills. The atmosphere was intense and filled with nationalistic favour and I have never witnessed anything like this before. After completing the ceremony, we reached the hotel and took proper rest. Next day when returning back to Panchkula, we decided to visit Science City at Jalandhar. The science city is certainly very educational for children as well as adults. Science city is a nice place for fun and learning. The science hall has many attractions to explain many scientific phenomenons. Science city is very well maintained, they have shown various models, other scientific things and experiments where children can go and learn many things. It is a place one should visit to see a lot of things. It was a wonderful experience for me. I will try to visit historical places and heritage sites of India every year.

Published On-10 Nov 2021 in TOI

How well it is said by a French novelist, memoirist and journalist George Sand that "Work is not man's punishment. It is his reward and his strength and his pleasure", Indulging into any work is a mark of man's dignity without which a life will be useless and unrewarding. “Labour" is a Latin word, meaning "work and toil". November 1st is celebrated as Labours’ Day all over the world to show respect and gratitude to all those labourers and workers around us who work hard to make our lives comfortable. Their sweat and blood actually gives way to our dreams and aspirations. It is because of them today we can sit in our luxurious bungalows and industries and make money. The sweepers, the bricklayers, the masons, the drivers, diggers etc, are all our helpers, our labourers. They clean the streets, public places, homes, lay roads, (we travel on) build buildings, (we live in) and many more. It's a horrendous thought of vanishing them. If they would have gone then our life would have become predicamented. But still labours are treated dreadfully. They are measured in no value. They aren't given enough dignity which they truly deserve. However there are numerous laws to safeguard such prejudices. Everyone is a labour, no one is idle in this world. Also, Victor Hugo said, "A man is not idle because he is absorbed in thought. There is visible labour and there is invisible labour". And also, dignity of labour has to be our national duty. It has to be a part of our nature. Labour also had a great impact on the progress of the nation. The Rapture of labour results in the rapture of the country. Workers are also vital, because they are out of the strongest support of any country's economy.

It is truly said that ‘The greatness of a culture can be found in its festivals’. They are celebrated to bring joy in the lives of people. Festivals not only bring good times but also bring the people of all caste and creed together. Of all the festivals, it is Diwali which not only lit up our houses but also enlighten our lives in many ways. Diwali is a festival that takes away all the sorrows, negativity from our lives and fills it with the wonderful colours of happiness, prosperity, and brotherhood. It is a festival that signifies the triumph of good over evil, of truth over falsehood and of light over darkness. Rich or poor everyone enjoys and celebrates it to the best of their capacity and capability. Diwali gives us a chance to forget the ill-will feelings and reconnect with the relatives and friends .This is not about just sharing gifts , it is also about sharing happiness and happy moments together to recreate the new ones.. But there is an ugly picture also which is hidden under the layers of the customs of this beautiful festival of Diwali. If I am asked about definition of my kind of Diwali , I would like to motivate people to buy earthen diyas in place of fancy lights so that the poor people who spent days and days making them earn some money. There is a tradition of bursting crackers on Diwali. We should try to be a responsible citizen and must initiate in the drive against global warming. It must be just for the sake of rituals not for a show off wealth and prosperity. We should aim to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly way and respect nature. Some of the crackers are louder than the resistance of human ears. It can lead to high blood pressure, hearing problems as well noise pollution. To prevent such things ,we must avoid firecrackers and should opt for green and safe Diwali. How beautiful and rewarding it will be if we arrange food for the poor and distribute sweets in the slums instead of spending money on crackers. This is the time we must remove the darkness from our hearts, soul and mind and lit diyas of love, happiness, success and prosperity in every single corner of the world .Let’s celebrate this Diwali by embracing brotherhood and spreading positivity all around.

The day the power of love overrrules the love of power, the world will know peace" rightly said by the father of nation. As we all know very well about civil rights movement many African American got success because many leaders martin Luther King jr and John Lewis adopted peaceful methods to fight against injustice. When people protest in peaceful manner it's a organized manner and people get a clear idea that why the people are protesting. And when people do violence against their injustice their is a chaotic situation on the roads and people face traffic because they block roads. As silence has more power than violence so we all should use non violent methods to fight like before the years of independence many freedom fighters were killed in the early age because they use violent methods and on the other hand many people who used non violent methods helped us to become a free country. So we all should adopt peacful protest because the power of silence is more than the power of violence.

Published On-30 Aug 2021 in TOI

It is rightly said by somebody that,’ The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description.’ What could be more appropriate day than today to witness the hardships that our women had to face to establish their mark in this society. On this Women’s Equality Day which is observed every year on 26 August in recognition of the continued efforts of women to achieve equality, let’s rejoice and salute all those women who carved a niche for themselves in spite of all odds threw upon them by society. For centuries women have played a crucial role in buildout of the nation. From revolutionaries like Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhanshi to leaders like Sarojini Naidu have fought for the nation’s freedom. According to Hindu mythology Lord Shiva is called Ardhnarishwar which means the lord whose half is a woman. It is believed that the God is Lord Shiva and the woman part is his consort Goddess Parvati or Shakti. Even Lord Shiva is incomplete without Goddess Parvati then how can we think of a society without women? Women are important to society without them we cannot even think of a society. But do women get the regard they deserve? Our society is considered as male dominated society. It is well said by Michelle Obama, “No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens”. Gender equality cannot be achieved unless women have been emancipated from all kinds of oppression. How can a country prosper if half of its people are held back? Women equality can be achieved when we empower women. There are no limits or barriers which women cannot break. In recent Olympics games we saw the remarkable performances of our sports women like Mirabai Channu, Mary Kom and P.V. Sindhu who brought honours to the country and made their names brighten up in the world. Feminism isn't about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength. Achieving gender equality requires the engagement of women and men, girls and boys. It is everyone’s responsibility. It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals. Envision a world without discrimination where men and women are equal partners in shaping their societies and lives. Let’s picture it! Let’s celebrate our she-roes and give them the esteem they deserve.

Yes, fast food chains are the major cause of increase in obesity rate, because many people in India and around the world especially USA suffer from obesity, this obesity generally effects children because children eat more fast food they suffer from obesity because many food organisations add ingredients that are not good for our health, and these food organisations have increased their outlet in the country generally many children after their school visit these places. Even many advertisements in television and phones advertise about visiting these food places, and these food organisations with catchy phrases attract people to buy these food items. These activities are making them couch potato, and many parents are working so they allow their children to take money and eat junk food, because of this many children get a habbit of eating junk food daily and it's very difficult to leave this habbit afterwards. And because of this many children at a very early age usually suffer from diabetes, stroke and cardiovascular problems. It's high time now we all should stop eating these fast food items and should adapt a healthy lifestyle.

A butterfly is a symbol of true freedom and hope. I wish I were a butterfly; I would have been born just like a mundane creepy caterpillar. I would have trusted in my journey which I would have waited patiently for my time to shine. Once I found my worth, the transformation would have occurred within me. With a bright morning, I would have transformed from an ugly -looking creature to a flawless butterfly with graceful movements and poised breath-taking wings to fly with. My turning stages would have enthused so many to believe in them and in the beauty of self-worth because whatever we are now is because of the ups and downs and adversities we go through. Like a butterfly, I would have enjoyed flitting freely from one flower to the other extracting nectar from the pretty flowers, and smelling the variety of flora and fauna in the natural world away from the artificial world of bricks and walls created by humans. I would have set off to whatever place I like without any restrictions of the lockdown. I wouldn’t have been afraid of catching the virus all the humans are afraid of right now. I wouldn’t have been afraid of getting the vaccine tested on. I would cherish the moment when humans realize what it actually feels like to be imprisoned. It is nature's time to flourish and enjoy and also leave a good lesson for humans to value the significance of all the creatures on the earth, howsoever tiny it is.

Published On-12 July 2021 in TOI

It is rightly said by somebody that ‘overconsumption and overpopulation underline every environmental problem we face today.” Our Government and media lay stress on environmental problems for the benefit of population which is right but unless we control the increasing population, environment can’t be saved. They are co related .Population growth is the primary source of environmental damage. If we will not control it , the day is not far off when nature with all its power will take the brutal charge. According to the recent reports China is at the top in the list of population and India grabs the second position with 136.64 crores population. It’s constantly growing and it’s predicted that soon India will hold the first position in the list which is a threat to the country at the time when its economic condition is at stake . The expanding population needs to cater to many requirements. They will need land to reside which would result in clearing of forest areas. It will be an arduous task for the government to provide food, clothes, water and electricity supply to all its citizens. It is rightly said that the real problem is not the population explosion but it is what that population is doing. Unemployment is a term which is directly related to population. How can we expect a jobless person to feed and nurture his family in a desired way. It is the responsibility of youth to take the responsibility and devise ways and means to control it. If we really want our future generation to enjoy the future tomorrow we need to take the responsibility of controlling the population today. Working today will spruce up your future tomorrow.

Published On-06 July 2021 in TOI

It is rightly said that .” Be nice to your siblings , they are your best link to your past and the most likely to stay with you in the future.” Whenever I am reminded of my childhood days and recall what activities I used to get involved in –from hiding on the terrace, eating mangoes in rain, running on the streets playing hide and seek and many more , I really wonder were those all the part of my persona. I really owe all these to my brothers and sisters who made my childhood so memorable. I really pity and wonder at the same time how difficult it is for a single child to spend time alone without siblings. Parents forget that it is must for the children to let out their emotions of love , hatred , happiness and frustrations and when they are in the company of their siblings, they get an outlet for that. Festivals and family occasions become more vibrant and meaningful when one is in the company of their brother and sisters. Who can replace the love quoted fight over a large scoop of ice-creams or the bigger portion of pizza piece? Nobody cared for spoiling of clothes and any infection while jumping in the puddles during rainy weather. Every holiday going to maternal grandparents and fighting for clothes, food really had its own charm. Now ,as I have come to higher class I really get very less time to get involved in all those fun filled activities. I think this techno word has detached us somewhere . Whatsapp and Google have become more akin to us and creating a vacuum in relations. Let’s get back to those carefree days and do not forget that siblings are the lens through which we see our childhood. Let’s become carefree once again and tie the knot of the common thread that binds us all together.

Published On-17 June 2021 in TOI

Reading is dreaming with open eyes" yes this line convey a very simple message about that reading is something dreaming as we dream at night with our eyes closes. but while reading books we can dream with open eyes.  Books are like our good friend because as good friend gives us knowledge and values, books also help us the same. I enjoy reading books, it increases my vocabulary, and when I read books I get lost in the book while reading it, it increases our knowledge. And yes books are like wealth they are wealth of knowledge books teaches us so many things like wisdom and while reading books I forget all the work and while reading books we never feel bored. To understand a concept in great depth we should read books, but nowadays some people donot read books this place has been taken by electronic device, because now people focus on mobile phones not reading the books it has also been scientifically proven that we learn more from books rather than any device. at last I want to say that Books place can never be taken by electronic device.

Article-"There is food for everyone on this planet but not everyone eats."
Published On-15 June 2021 in TOI

It is rightly said that ‘Throwing away food is like stealing from the table of those who are poor and hungry’. When we buy food and throw it away. We are literally taking food off the shelves of the global food marketplace. We are therefore taking it out from the mouths of the hungry people. Those who have their shelves and cupboards full of cakes and buns can never know what hunger is. Ask a slum dweller or a little poor child the definition of hunger, he is the one who experiences it more than often and can hardly get a one time meal and that too at the mercy of people around. We see with our open eyes the food getting wasted in the lavish parties thrown by the elite class. Pity is that we hardly notice the poor children getting their hunger satisfied from the leftover food or from the garbage. It is high time we understand how precious the food is. Now that many of the people have lost their jobs, our responsibilities to think in this direction have increased manifold. Scientists who have studied world hunger, however, found that the world produces more than enough food to feed everyone on the planet. So, where lies the problem? The main cause of hunger worldwide is poverty and the attitude we carry.. Millions of people around the world are simply too poor to be able to buy food or to grow their own food due to lack of resources. Another cause of hunger is food wastage. The United Nations estimates that the world wastes approximately 2.9 trillion pounds of food each year. That is enough to feed the world’s undernourished more than twice over. The solution is to donate food if you HAVE in excess. There are many food banks also where people can give the excess food, which can later be taken by the penniless. We need to change the approach of ‘my money, my food’. God is watching each act of ours, so start watching your action and don’t be a ‘greedy gut’. Develop a habit of putting that much on your platter which your stomach can digest and try to satisfy your body not your eyes .It is well said too, ’The word has enough for everyone’s need but not enough for everyone’s greed’.

Published On-19 May 2021 in TOI

While this lockdown was still continuing, the best way to get relieved from the sweltering heat of Chandigarh was to visit a hill station. So, we decided to visit my uncle’s residence in Kullu-Manali. When we reached Kullu we were welcomed by a wandering heavy rain shower. The next day we visited Hadimba Mata Temple to worship Goddess Hadimba and also explored the beauty of forests. I was content to see many animals such as the wild Yak, Himalayan Rabbit, Monal etc. The experience of riding Yak’s back was amazing. While coming back we also visited Badheli Nature Park and Mauhl Nature Park. In the evening ,we took a rest and next morning we visited the Rohtang valley. The cool breeze, rushing river and snowy mountains spelled out on us soon after we reached Atal Tunnel. I was thrilled to see the beauty and creativity of this tunnel. After a few hours we reached Sisu lake. There was only snow around us. I couldn’t wait and started playing with snowballs. I also made a snowman. It was fun exploring moments. I didn’t want to leave the beautiful place but I had to. Finally, I came back home carrying all memories in the form of photographs which will always remind me of the best of the time I spent there.

Book Review - "Room by Emma Donoghue"
Published On-29 April 2021 in TOI

A touching story, innovative in its narration provides a window into the world of unfortunate people who have to go through an ordeal due to the unjustified brutishness of some pseudo-civilised savages although ultimately ending with the triumph of good over evil. Inspired from the Fritzl case in Austria, the novel is centred on five-years-old Jack and his Ma who are captives in a thoroughly escape-proof garden shed. Although provided with the basic necessities of life, life itself is meaningless to live in such confined boundaries. By providing a delusion about the world outside, Ma shield Jack from the disappointment of wanting a childhood she cannot give him. After she is convinced that ‘Old Nick’ would rather claim their lives than let them be free, she is compelled to tell Jack the truth and formulate a plan to escape. After the plan succeeds, both find themselves exposed to the world which they were isolated from for years. Their struggle, helped in by family and friends, complicated due to extensive media coverage leading to Ma attempting suicide. Finally, Room with which Jack was so attached has no intrigue or emotional attachment for jack when he visits it for one last time with his Ma. Beginning with an excellent and realistic portrayal of Jack and his routine, the quality and plot somewhat deteriorates after the escape with the author never really making her theme clear. Also, while she has elaborately described everything from start, important scenes were almost always rushed through. The style is romantic realism as it presents things in the way that a child will notice. Nevertheless, the novel’s enlivening of Evil in striking vividness through an adorable child’s innocent and accurately presented narration renders it a quality of a must-read.

Article-"Nature hit the reset button globally during pandemic"
Published On-22 April 2021 in TOI

It is rightly said that ‘The Earth has music for those who can listen it’ In the hush – bush of life where we have forced ourselves to be in the four walls of concrete structures, little we realize that the world outside our windows has lot to arrest our attentions. The pandemic brought a lot of change in our lifestyles. The good thing it brought is that we have started feeling the essence of nature. The chirp of birds which were suppressed somewhere in the tinkling of door bells and the preparation to go to workplace was clearly noticed and enjoyed. The smokeless and clean sky full of birds soaring high really not only increased our gazing time but also brought us near to nature. This pandemic caused severe loss of life, reduction in the economy of the country and led to great destruction to the countries. Like, wind only destroys weak things but make strong ones roar and flourish, in the same way COVID – 19 destroyed the frails and strengthened the studies. But on the other hand, it also helped us in learning about nature's beauty and its importance in our lives. Our environment witnessed various positive as well as negative impacts. It seems to have hit the reset button globally to renew itself and reclaiming the spaces to heal itself as the anthropogenic activities have slowed down. Our environment which faced various hardships due to our foolishness has now started to improve itself, but for us so that we could inhabit cheerfully. During this pandemic, the pollution level significantly came down transforming the quality of air. Water sources become clean. There is a sharp reduction in noise pollution that is the major source of discomfort for the environment and human health. We started to feel inner peace and happiness. When human beings are being locked, animals seem to have come to enjoy their territory. They seem to have reoccupied all their rights and are enjoying their freedom. Hunting of animals too reduced during these years. This global lockdown has allowed birds and wildlife to flourish and enjoy their freedom. This means that mother earth is benefitted by COVID – 19. Ecosystem could only be in attendance when there is interaction between us and the natural world and destruction of any one would wipe out the whole ecosystem that in turn will blow out the water. So, we should learn a lesson that we must now proceed with a better thinking to avoid any further global catastrophe. Environmental pollution expanded its roots in those past years, so nature was forced to take a step to reduce it. But now, it’s our duty to revolutionize our personal attitude towards our own environment. We should take a pledge today to transform our negative thoughts that we have for our environment into positive and should come forward to save our environment. Like, to build a beautiful and strong home, we need cement, bricks, tiles etc. In the same way to build a happy life, we need nature. “Nature is not a place to visit. It is home”. Nature is our real parents that always gives and never takes.. This earth day is like a blank book and the pen is in our hands. It is a golden chance to write a beautiful story for ourselves. Let’s rejoice and celebrate to be a part of this beautiful Earth which has promised to take care of us for the whole of life.

Festivals in general break the monotony of our mundane life marred by tensions and add colour and joy to our life. There are many festivals celebrated in our country. It is the major festival of Sikhs that falls on the 13th or 14th of April each year. There is a holiday in Punjab on this day. Baisakhi is primarily the harvest festival of Punjab. Published On-03 Feb 2021 in TOI

Endearingly called Devbhumi, Uttrakhand means "Land of God" a destination which abounds in nature’s beauty, pure environment, large mountains and snow fall. This was my dream destination to visit this place and I got a chance to visit the famous ancient Koteshwar Temple in Uttrakhand. The sweet memories of the visit of Uttrakhand unfold my exhilaration in inherent natural beauty, enormous splendour, serenity, spirituality and tranquillity which fascinates one to spend time to hear the rhythmic and soothing lapping of the Ganga which flows majestically paving her path through the giant mountains.I geared up my journey to this place chasing the high mountains and holy river Ganga from Rishikesh. It was mesmerising to follow spiral road with high Rocky Mountains one side of the road and flowing Ganga below the road on the other. It was fun to see many travellers enjoying rafting a popular adventurous water sport in Rishikesh. The highlight on the way to my destination was the Confluence of two holy rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi at Devprayag. This is the place where Alaknanda meets Bhagirathi and emerges as the Ganga .This sacred place is an enchanting visual treat and holds immense religious significance among the Hindus. After this holy place I marched towards my next destination the Koteshwar Mahadev Temple dedicated to lord Shiva. It is nestled in the foothills of the poised Himalayas, 3 kilometres inside the ‘heart’ of Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, a little above the Alaknanda River.According to a local mythology, this temple has its presence since the time of Bhasmasura , the deadly demon who tried to ruin Lord Shiva into ashes. Lord Shiva finally came to this place which was a cave and resided here for some time meditating. Finally, Lord Vishnu killed the demon. To mark the significance, stands this temple at Koteshwar. The miraculous cave wherein it is said that lord Shiva meditated, is very small and dark. The sanctum inside the cave has the marks of Shiva as the Shivalinga. Many devotees visit the cave and bless themselves. The place is significantly marked for magnanimous Himalayas, the spiritual mystery, stunning landscapes, the enchanting history carved in ancient stones and a mesmerizing floral and faunal plethora. Myths, anecdotes and stories are part of every visual that unfolds itself to the eyes of the beholder. It had been an unforgettable experience visiting this place.

Article-"No nation is perfect it needs to be made perfect by its citizens"
Published On-01 Feb 2021 in TOI

Responsibility is the price of freedom. Being the nation’s children it’s our right to participate in the judicial, legal, political, religious and social affairs of the nation. We must not hurt the sentiments of others and must protect the weak from the strong. Being loyal to the nation and the society, under all the circumstances, is our first and foremost duty. A good citizen has to imbibe many qualities. A good citizen must be ready to sacrifice his life for the sake of his motherland. He must love his nation and be a nationalist. He should have firm and deep faith in his motherland. He should obey the laws of the land. But he must also keep in mind the welfare of the state, the benefit of society and the long term interests of the nation.A good citizen must respect the cultural heritage of his country. He should respect the heroes, the prophets, the sages and saints of his country. He must respect the race to which he belongs. He must always keep in mind the future of his country. He must raise the standard of living of his country by working honestly. He must be vigilant against the enemies of the country. He must not do something that may help the anti-nationalist or the enemies of the country. He must cling to high ideals. He must be aware of what is happening in his country. The Bhagwad Gita and Ramayana also ask people to perform their duties. In the Gita, Lord Krishna ordains, “One should do one’s duties without expectation of any fruits”. Mahatma Gandhi once said, “I learnt my duties on my mother’s lap. Swami Vivekananda rightly observed, “it is the duty of every person to contribute in the development and progress of India”. The rationale for citizens’ duties can be summarized in the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Every citizen plays a key role in building a New India — a clean, healthy and prosperous nation. Everyone performing their duties, even mechanically, would pave the way for a better neighborhood, better society, and ultimately, a better country. Let us together build a responsible India, let us together imbibe the spirit of responsible citizenship to achieve the full potential of our country. Let us all remember our fundamental duties in the same way as we remember our fundamental rights. It is rightly said, ”YOUR PRIDE FOR YOUR COUNTRY SHOULD NOT COME AFTER YOUR COUNTRY BECOMES GREAT, YOUR COUNTRY BECOMES GREAT BECAUSE OF YOUR PRIDE IN IT.”

Published On-06 Jan 2021 in TOI

Last year we planned a trip to Goa. It was an unforgettable trip and we enjoyed a lot. I was so excited that during my journey to Goa, I could not sleep. Goa is an amazing place. When we reached there It was a bright and beautiful day. Going further down the road, the road was full of greenery with coconut and jackfruit trees. It was so nice to feel the morning and was not at all noisy. The beaches are the glorious part of Goa. Visiting the Sinquerim, Baga, Calangute beaches was very enjoyable. I was mesmerized by the view, where the sea meets the sky in an uninterrupted line. We played in the waves, made sand castles and went for paragliding, the memorable part of that day. Going back to the hotel we were so tired, but as the sunsets, night life begins in Goa. It gets active and people come out and start having fun. Next day we thought that we would go around Goa. So, we visited to the beautiful ancient Agora Fort. It was very scenic; we clicked many photographs there. Afterwards on the way to Panaji we saw the ship decks being lighted so beautifully that one could not just take their eye from it. The restaurants of Goa are just fantastic. The food was delicious and the ambience was just perfect with the live music. The architectural work done Goan temples, churches and old houses brought great laurels to Goa. We then visited some of the churches. It was very peaceful to be there and pray. We really enjoyed our trip and, on the way, back we bought some of the Goan street items and chocolates for our friends and family. We also got many valuable things as a remembrance of Goa. Goa is definitely one of the best places on should visit at least once in a lifetime.

Published On-21 Dec 2020 in TOI

“A farmer is a magician who produces money from the mud''. Farmers are the one who works every moment thinking that his hard work will feed one’s stomach one day. They may sleep hungry but they never let a country sleep hungry. Our country can be converted to a digital country, but our daily requirements like food can’t be downloaded from Google. To earn food, we need to salute those farmers who take out gold from mud to fill every heart with happiness. They are the backbone of the whole world whom we need to thank from the bottom of our heart. The real living example of the universal thinker soul are the farmers who work constantly in summer’s heat as well as in winter’s chill irrespective of their health and wealth that they would receive after selling the produce. We, today are running before money which when earned by us, is lost by our foolishness only which turns our lives depressed. But the real happiness can be seen in those farmers who enjoy living and playing with their mother land. Their happiness is different that we people can’t think of. Nowadays, we are not thinking accurately about the lives of farmers. We are judging them and their profession by their outer looks and are unaware of their significance in our lives. We are treating them as poor peasants but really we foolish men don’t know the cost of these peasants. Due to them, a world is able to live and develop. But, the new generation is directly thinking of getting involved in development activities thinking farming as a rubbish profession. They want to be engaged in a work where they earn money with less hard work but they are unaware of the fact that without hard work, the money earned is like money earned from theft. The new generation is thinking for his benefits only. If we wish to gain positivity in our lives, we need to first make ourselves understand that universal thinking is better than thinking for only our benefits. Really farmers aren’t peasants, they are merchants who sell gold at an affordable rate to meet our daily needs and we need to understand their importance in our lives. We should educate our new generation and motivate them to go for this profession which is the best like every other profession. If soldiers are the bricks of a house, doctors are its cement, then farmers are the tiles used to decorate a home. All these things are required to build a beautiful home and missing even any one may lead to the destruction of a house. All professions are doing a great job to build a civilized nation. If soldiers are protecting the word, doctors are saving it, teachers are shaping it, then farmers are feeding it. If anyone is affected, it will lead to the demolition of a good, civilized, safe, educated and healthy country.

So, today i would like to talk about how to spend our weekend in an exceptional and in a new way. Weekends are so important to us as on weekends we can relax from our daily work and can go to visit different Places. But in today's time due to this epidemic. We can find some new ways to enjoy with our family at our home. First all my family member wake up early at 6pm and then we all do yoga and pranayam. After that me and my sister prepares breakfast and we all enjoy eating it. After that we all play many games like ludo, carrom and monopoly. In the we evening play Badminton and we dance on the songs. And on all the weekends my dad cooks food at night. So, this is my funtime with my family. But generally in the families many people donot talk to their family members even on the weekends, all the persons just operate their phones and other computer devics but this is leading to a very big problem in social relationships , at least we should spend one day with our family members thus this increases togetherness. And on the first day of the weekend we are able to do our whole wirk with full energy and calmness Thus our weekends teaches us the lessons of togetherness and love with our family.

“God doesn’t give the hardest battles to his toughest soldiers, He creates the toughest soldiers out of life’s hardest battles.”A soldier’s job is one of the toughest things to do in the world. They are supposed to fulfill challenging duties and possess exceptional qualities to become a great soldier. However, their lives are very tough. Nonetheless, they always fulfill their duties despite the hardships.Soldiers are the most respected and honored people of the country, and rightfully so,given the amount of sacrifice they do with their personal lives so that the country is safeand sound. Soldiers are considered to be a lifeline for the country. Even during the smallest of unrest and conflicts in the country, we call on our men in catalogue to put out the fire. Soldiers are well trained for any situation they might have to face while protecting the country. The sole purpose of a soldier is to protect our county from internal and external enemies and fight for the nation. The tough training of soldiers makes them even stronger. During the training, they begin their day early in the morning with exercises for long hours. They are well trained to use different kinds of weapons that are used during the war such as guns, missiles, tanks, bombs, etc. They are also trained to fly aircraft, climb mountains and swim in the high seas. They are taught to survive in the toughest conditions. A soldier has to be on duty for long hours. He has to live in tents and camps in extreme weather conditions. He lives away from his family and hardly gets to meet them once or twice a year. Diwali Celebration invigorates people with a festive spirit, excitement, enthusiasm, lights up the mood with social gatherings, festive food that certainly gives a break from monotonous routine. However, this year, the coronavirus pandemic seems to have subdued the entire enthusiasm. To ensure safety it is essential to lay extra emphasis on following social distancing and hygiene protocols. After almost eight months of living under the cloud of a pandemic, visiting our family and friends, getting gifts from markets is not a safe option this year due to COVID-19 led restrictions. Social media has given us a platform to send Diwali greetings, arrange video call, virtual parties with our friends and relatives. My celebration, this year will be thanksgiving .I would extend a special gratitude to my teachers who have been putting in efforts tirelessly to support their students in every possible way sending them e wishes. I am going to illuminate my home using earthen lamps helping the potters earn their living. Most importantly I will illuminate a special lamp to honour all Corona Warriors like doctors, health-care workers, and medical staff members and soldiers who are leading the battle against COVID-19 from the front putting their own lives at risk with selfless determination for the sake of saving lives. Finally I will pray to God for the universal peace and to remove the pains and sufferings of the world for the survival of life of human beings. Let’s make this Diwali such a memorable one that when we look down the memory lane, it will bring smiles on our face sometime in future because Sweet Are The Uses Of Adversity.

Published On-12 Nov 2020 in TOI

Amid the lockdown, I had so many new things to do, learn and create. During the one-month vacation, I had some extra time as our online classes were not in progress then. I kept wondering what to do with the time. It was then that I came up with the idea of wall painting. I had never attempted such a task before. My sister and I took our mother’s permission. Though my mother agreed to let us paint the wall, she was a bit apprehensive. She was worried that if the artwork didn’t turn out as planned, the wall would get ruined. But still she allowed us to go ahead. My sister and I began with a few strokes. It took us several days. And guess what? It turned out to be amazing! We were both really happy with our newly – found talent. We showed the painted wall to cousins and friends over a video call. All of them appreciated our efforts. I am not an artist but I would say that each one of us has an artist hidden within. So don’t wait, go ahead and explore your talent.
Vartika-X-D Article -Gandhi: From ordinary Barrister to the Father of the Nation
Published On-1st Oct 2020
Mahatma Gandhi once said that “You can shake the world in a gentle way” and he proved so with his famous Dandi March. He struggled hard in order to bring swaraj. We all know him as ‘The Father of Our Nation’ but do you know that he was a barrister? He became a lawyer after completing his studies in South Africa but he was not meant for that job. In a way, we can say that being a barrister was not his passion. This is so because in the courtroom it is really normal to make white black and black white which was totally against his philosophy. He struggled to become a barrister but whenever he would go to court he would mess up everything and would have to leave the courtroom. Once he became furious at an officer because he threw him out of the room by his peon when he tried to press his brother’s case. At that time he was warned by Pherozshah Mehta about being ‘hot-blooded’ and that he would not gain anything like that. Instead, he will ruin himself. ”Tell him he has yet to know life” was Mehta’s advice. This changed his life course and affected his individual self which ultimately led to his major role in the freedom struggle. A case later in South Africa made him realize that the real work of a lawyer was to unite the rivalry parties and bring in peace and solution through negotiation. His experiences in the freedom struggle of South Africa inspired him to pursue ‘Satyagraha’ which means to peacefully ask for your rights. He was sagacious, kind, understanding, and most importantly a great leader who inspired the whole world. All of his qualities helped in gaining freedom for our nation when he returned from South Africa with a victory. That’s why he is known as ‘the Father of the Nation’.

Though the gandhian philosphoy seems simple but in reality it requires a great sacrifice, self control and selflessness, which many people are unable to follow it. This problem arises when one aims for more than one needs and gets caught in the endless cycle of greed. Simple living safegaurds one against all distractions. It results in saving of time, money , energy and other resources which can be used for other's development. Bapu was one to propagate the ideology of simple living and high thinking.

Published On-01 Oct 2020 in TOI

The man who gave the world famous and ever-lasting quote, "You must be the change you want to see in the world", is not just an eminent personality to be remembered rather he is someone whose ideologies should be reflected in our lifestyle. We must adopt Mahatma Gand-hi's way of living and bring the Gandhian philosophy into action. He introduced the power of non-violence to the en-tire world. Most importantly, he taught us that if you wish to win some you need to lose some, which means that every achievement is accompanied with some sort of sacrifice. Even Gandhiji himself, had to give away all his as-sets and live a simple life to help India in her free-dom struggle. He could opted to enjoy his life as a barrister, making money and leading a peace-ful life, full of comforts, but he wanted to render his service to the nation and came back India. So we must inculcate this habit of exploring ,..., each possible way to help others rather than crying over our sacrifices. Mahatma Gand-hi's contribution towards the devel-opment of our nation led him to be re-garded by Indians as the Father of the Nation

This day is significant because it tell us that daughters are worthy of being celebrated and that are one of the greatest gift for parents. For father daughters are like princesses. Even in indian mythology, girls are incanrations of the many goddes that people pray for their well being. Girls also support and love their parents just as boys so, we should treat them as equal and give opportunites to bloom.

When we plant a tree we plant a seed of hope and peace. Planting trees is very important in life because if we cut trees indiscriminately for our needs then, one day we all will be begging for oxygen that keeps us alive. There are many reasons why planting trees is necessary; it gives us fruits, vegetables, oxygen, herbs used in medicines, wood for construction and much more. They are home to many animal and bird species as well. Trees give us everything but never ask or demand for something in return. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi also initiated a campaign for planting approx of 25 crore trees (between July 1-7). So, we should pledge to plant a tree on our birthday so that we can save our generation tomorrow.

They show us the right way and give advice and guide us every time. Their experience serves as a knowledge Bank for the younger generations to learn from. So, during lockdown we too can teach our seniors about technology- enabled services which they are not well versed with. We need to care for and respect our elders as they too need our affection and attention at this stage in their life .Young people should make good use of time by interacting with elderly as there is much to learn from them.

Article-"Karma Catches Up Eventually"
Published On-02 July 2020 in TOI

These days everyone is busy dealing with coronavirus, fighting and blaming other countries for this present situation. But has anyone thought about why we have to face all these circumstances? What is the cause behind this? The answer is very simple. It is us, the human beings who are responsible for this present situation. This is because human beings have become so selfish that they don't care about nature, the helpless animals who are kept in cages, the harm that they are unintentionally or maybe intentionally causing to the environment. People kill animals to fulfill their greed for taste, people cut trees again to fulfill their greed for big houses, big factories, they cause pollution to the environment. Now, there is something called karma which means what we give is what we get. We did harm to nature , nature is harming us. Not directly, but indirectly in the form of Covid 19. Today, in the present scenario there is no pollution, all the animals can move freely wherever they want because no one will trap them or catch them to sell them in order to earn money. Karmas, like a rubber band, can only be stretched to a limit but as it is released, it comes back and smacks you on the face. This all happened because we never understood the damage we did to someone, until the same come back to us. But don't worry. Just wait for the give and take relation between humans and nature to get completed. After seeing the present scenario If we still do not change our way of thinking, the time is not far away when our Karmas will return to us in more tenacious ways.

Published On-25 June 2020 in TOI

While IQ (Intelligence Quotient) and EQ (Emotional Quotient) are very well-known to everyone, people have little knowledge about AQ. Adversity Quotient or AQ, which basically tells us about our ability to deal with and endure a critical and tensed situation, has become an important aspect in our life, especially nowadays. Your intelligence, although very important, holds little value if you cannot maintain your calm during a bad situation. Many a time your ability to reason is lost when you have a nervous breakdown. Usually many people tend to face such issues as depression which often results to grave steps such as suicide. In our increasingly complex lifestyle, we face a lot of issues. If we wish to solve such problems and want to lead a happy life, it is important to keep our mind stable by improving our AQ.

People who do yoga regularly are seldom bound to illness. Yoga adds extra years to our life as the people doing it are very particular about their health and fitness. Yoga gives strength to our body to enjoy a happy life without any illness or problems. It relaxes our mind and is even beneficial for proper sleep. People who practice yoga are always active. It even helps in getting rid of anxiety. Take for example yog guru Baba Ramdev, he seems young even at his age. Yoga is beneficial and helpful at every stage of life. I feel that during the lockdown period people should add yoga to their routine as it give the body much needed vigour and strength to stay healthy and fit.

It has been rightly said ‘To keep the body in good health is a duty otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear’. Yoga is the only solution to all our problems. It not only strengthens our body but also improves our mental health which has really become a necessity in this fast life. On every 21st June, we celebrate International Yoga Day. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken it to a higher level. It is a beautiful art form that is being performed in India for thousands of years. Yoga is a spiritual practice and the ultimate body relaxation. Doing yoga brings us many benefits like it makes us disciplined, improves our self-confidence, increases our concentration and a true character is well-developed while performing yoga. Yoga indirectly controls us from inside and strengthens us from the outside. That’s why it is said that regular practice of yoga adds years to our life and life to our years. In ancient times all the sages used to control not only their bodies but the universe by practicing yoga. Through their yogic asanas, they could add up years in their lives. One of the best suggestions for mind relaxation these days is yoga. Performing one hour of yoga every day is a wise option as it gives you a chance to recognise your true self and achieve great heights. So, everyone must make yoga a part of their life as it keeps one calm and composed. During this difficult situation as we face a pandemic, we can take full advantage of the spare time and indulge in yoga practice. Yoga can be done by all age groups. Hence we should encourage our families, friends and neighbours to be a part of this wellness regimen and stay safe and healthy at home.

Article-"How have children the tech warriors helped out their family members with technology amid the lockdown?"
Published On-19 June 2020 in Hindustan Times

The entire world is witnessing an unprecedented scenario that has posed a threat to mankind. In order to break the chain of outspread of corona virus, a lockdown has been enforced all over India. During lockdown it is the power of technology that has come as a rescue to keep our world moving on. It has successfully mitigated the effects of the sudden outbreak and challenges that sprung up after the lockdown was imposed. It is a paradigm shift with the deeper penetration of technology in our life as many people are now working from home, to maintain the social distancing .from the internet and social media, to phones, apps, games, video conferencing tools, webinars, online studies, meetings, payment of bills and e- banking, technology is increasingly becoming an essential part of our lives during lockdown. This has brought a new challenge for the tech-hesitant people to keep up pace with the accelerating technology and when they fail, they look for the assistance and guidance from the younger generation .In reality; younger children are more tech friendly. This has become evident when the online shift is made and the students are doing well with tech-based education, but the senior teachers are quite uncomfortable with tech based teaching learning. Most parents and even senior teachers feel unmatched when it comes to technology and look for the help to be acquainted with the devices like smart phones, tablets and laptops, making presentation, uploading pictures, using social media. The techno savvy children can resolve the problems of their clueless parents when they are stuck somewhere in using technology and are not familiar with terms associated with it. This happens among low-income middle class families, where the children act as language links between the family and the new environment of digital media. The children from poorer families are more likely to receive input about technology from school and friends. This spills over and in turn, the children teach their parents how to use it smartly. Harnessing the power of technology these tech warriors can help their parents to have an easy access to internet and keep them updated with the fast pacing world and feel themselves confident to face the necessary challenges coming up in the modern digital world. Undoubtedly Parents across the country didn’t grow up with the same technology our kids have at their fingertips today but parents being sensible and more experienced need to be vigilant enough what the younger generation is up to. These new technologies are not inherently evil, but parents need to teach their kids to use it judiciously and wisely to the fullest to meet the challenges of modern age.

My childhood was full of enjoyment
But now somewhere it went
Playing with teddies and dolls
On weekends enjoying in malls.
But now this enjoyment is nowhere left
Because my childhood is gone.
The day I turned thirteen
I entered the age of teen.
That time I had two ways
Which was compulsory to face
One, which was to see dreams
And other, to work hard in all streams.
That time my mind was confused
And my companions abusive
Days gone and I kept thinking
And when I woke up I saw that
In the ocean of negativity I was sinking.
Thoughts were such I couldn't share
Being scared my mind said if shared would I be spared.
Days gone and made me tense
And I was filled with nervousness
Even one time came when I thought that my life was just a mess.
All adults just kept thinking
That I had understood
what was bad and wrong for me.
Even though I wanted to follow my father's talk
But in the wrong way I was stuck.
Then it came the day
When I made my will
To leave the way which made my mind ill.
All these thoughts were then flushed from my mind.
And I chose the way which was best and kind.

It is rightly said that the difference between animals and humans is that animal change themselves for their environment, but humans change the environment for themselves. Because of air, water and land pollution caused by caused by factories, garbage thrown in rivers, seas and oceans, our environment is suffocating day by day. Though many awareness campaigns are being held from time to time, all this waste cannot be cleaned in one day; it needs concerted efforts on our part to obey some rules in our daily life in order to restore the balance. For example we should stop wasting water by taking long baths and washing our car using hosepipes, instead use carpool and discourage the use of plastic bags etc. We need to remember that ‘Our Earth is not yours or mine, it is ours’, so protect it and save it.
Harshit Kumar, class VIII Article-"If doctors are saving the world, then teachers are shaping it" Published On-31 May 2020
“Children are the future of tomorrow.” It is true that children are the building blocks of the country due to which its economy and respect towards other countries increases. But the credit goes to the teachers who teach students who turn into great personalities. Teachers are the ones who shape the child, make him a good citizen, make him a respectful person so that he becomes capable enough to serve the world in a better way. Now at this crucial time when the whole world is fighting a pandemic, doctors as well as teachers are playing a vital role and are making our society better by serving the nation selflessly. It is rightly said,” Teaching is the profession which teaches all other professions”. It is the teachers who mould their students into engineers and doctors so their role can’t be ignored. If the doctors are putting their 100% to save every Covid patient, so as the teachers, they are also putting their best of efforts to save the future of children. They themselves are no less than warriors who are fighting at both fronts – they are managing their household duties and meeting their job demands with same vigour and enthusiasm. All the teachers are putting in lot of efforts and teaching in a virtual setup which is totally different from a traditional classroom. Their only mission for undertaking these painstaking efforts is to not let students waste their precious time. Learning never stops, and so our worthy teachers are trying hard to impart education to us in all possible ways. If soldiers are the bricks of a house, doctors are its cement, and teachers are the tiles used to decorate a home. All these things are required to build a beautiful home, and missing any one thing may destroy the beauty of the house. All professionals are doing a great job for the progress of the country and all of them are required to build a civilized country. If doctors are saving the world, then soldiers are protecting it and teachers are shaping it, and the absence of even one will not be fruitful for the growth of a happy, healthy, safe, economic, disease- free country.
Bhawna Yadav-X Article-Let's Be Human Published On-04 May 2020
Look he is drowning! Save him! But let me click a picture first… Oh he is about to fall off a building! Somebody please rescue him.. But let’s first post this on social media and get some likes.. If we go by the dictionary, humanity stands for all the people in the world thought of as a group or the quality of being kind and understanding. But do we find any of these qualities in humans nowadays? We humans have become so inhuman these days. Expecting any sort of kindness for other creatures from humans is a distant thing. Human beings don’t possess any warmth or sympathy even towards each other. This statement may leave us in an utterly dejected mood but sadly, this is the reality of today. We can definitely run away from reality but cannot hide it. If eating and having fun is only what we are born to do then we should keep one thing in mind, even animals can do this. One does not need a hefty bank account to contribute towards humanity. Paying our domestic help fairly is also humanity. Lifting the heavy bag for an old woman is humanity, helping a disabled person cross the road is humanity, helping your mother in chores is humanity; in fact helping anyone who is in need is humanity. As it is rightly said by the legends of all times, Charlie Chaplin “We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity; more than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.” As soon as we understand the importance of humanity in our life, the purpose for which we are on Earth is automatically fulfilled. So, the next time somebody asks you which religion or caste you belong to, just reply with a soothing smile on your face “Humanity”.

It is rightly said by someone that ‘If there is one place on the face of Earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence , it is India ‘. We all are proud to be an Indian as India is a country of religion, harmony and brotherhood. India is the world famous for its unity in diversity. Here the people of all religions live with the Guild. It is the only country where all the festivals are celebrated with the same enthusiasm and vigour. It is the only country where 23 languages are spoken. Whether it is cuisine, dance forms or dresses, no other country can beat India in its rich culture and diversity. No other country has received such acclaim and respect in the whole world. Many of the advances in science that we consider today to have been made in Europe were in fact made in India centuries ago .500 years ago , when many of the civilizations used to live like nomads , at that time Sindhu Civilization in India was already progressive . Many thousands of years ago , it was India who gave ‘zero’ , navigation and calendar to the world. Traditional dance forms , ragas of different kinds , spirituality, Vedas and Upanishads, Science , astronomy , literature , engineering , constitution of law , mathematics , agriculture in almost every field India showed the path to the world. It has proved its potential in space science . This is the country where more than 3 lakhs Mosques are there . Kumbh mela – is the largest gathering in human history where more than 15 crore people participate . In actual here life is worth living and not at all futile .The world’s 75 % tigers can be found in India only .We may not have statue of liberty but we have the largest statue of our Iron Man ‘ Sardar Vallabh Bai patel ----‘Statue of Unity’ made on the pious soil of Narmada .We have the biggest school of the world , The highest Cricket Ground , Floating post office , anti-gravity hills, the world’s biggest rail bridge and the world’s biggest hospital train . My country , India, is also known for its peace. The white colour on the flag demonstrates peace in our country and we must respect that and maintain peace as it indicates. The other biggest reason to proud our country India is that it has a constitution and it is the only nation in the world which gave every adult the right to vote from its first day. In the end, I would like to say that --- We are proud to be an Indian .

Many of you might have taken the resolution this year to include healthy food in your life but are you having difficulty in following it. Well it might be hard to separate yourself from your favourite junk food but trust me if you are able to do it then you will not regret afterwards. Here are some easy steps to follow, first say a big No to junk food. Yes you will have to part away from it if you desire to possess a healthy lifestyle. Secondly, make a diet plan for yourself and keep a check that if you are following it regularly or not. And yes do include only healthy food in your diet. Thirdly try to avoid foods high in salt, saturated fat and sugar, foods low in fibre and nutrients, and drinks with caffeine or lots of sugar. They can increase the risk of obesity, sleep disorder, diabetes etc. If ONE want snacks and desserts then go for healthy alternatives. Choose snacks from the healthy food groups like nuts, cheese, low-fat yogurt, and fresh fruits pr vegetables like carrot. The same goes for desserts at the end of a meal. Sliced fruits or yogurt is the healthiest option. Eating out or ordering food once a week is acceptable. I think this much sacrifice anyone can do in order to live healthy throughout one’s life.

Just thinking of it , gives a good feast to our tongue .We are fortunate ones that we are living in a country where we can satisfy our taste buds with cuisine of different kinds ...Italian, Chinese , South Indian etc. You name the thing and it is there .Images of variety food on the brochure and menu of hotels further activate our fetish to have it. But everything comes with a price and the food prepared in these eating joints leave a bad effect on our health. To sell their prepared eatables they add a lot of spices , cheese etc , intake of which in turn spoil our health .We are living in a world where people who are fit remain hit. One needs to have a balanced life .It is no doubt difficult to get rid of food that is full of crispness and crunchiness but one should not forget that health is the real wealth. So, I always prefer to have homemade food for six days of the week and treat myself with a small amount of junk food on Sundays only. Though it is difficult to avoid temptations in this techno era when Swiggy , Zomato are always there to serve you at your doorsteps yet we must understand that excess of everything is bad .Everyone wish to be fit and live a healthy life and the way to that goes to our kitchen where our mothers toil hard to prepare food , taking care of all the nutrients .No food app can replace the food prepared by our moms .It is said to,” Appreciate the food that your mothers cook for you as some don’t have food and other may not have mothers” So adopt ‘ eat green and focus on how much we eat and what we eat . In India the increase of percentage of unhealthy food consumption of children had been increased from 9.73% to 13.9%. We must not forget that we are the guards of our body and must keep a check on what we are letting inside it .

It is apt that December is the time when the examination stress starts building up . It is a time when student life starts revolving around books and sample question papers. With a few weeks to go for the final exams, performance anxiety haunts every student. Keeping the stress of performing better in the exams, we students forget the basic rules to cope up with the stress. It is important to manage this stress and find little ways of helping to eliminate the risk of burnout. 1 ) Preferring short naps and some time to chill out yourself will leave you feeling more refreshed and relaxed the next time you revise. 2 ) Prioritize the workload . We should give our best concentration and time to the toughest subject. 3 ) Try to get enough concentration in the morning or lunch not at night when you can't concentrate . If you can study at night then do remember to have a sound sleep of good 6 to 7 hours to keep you refresh for the next day. 4 ) Make different strategies for studying . Try to make a timetable for at least one month ahead of the exams. 5 ) Don't prefer drinking too much coffee and tea . 6 ) Avoid getting panic. Just believe in yourself and your strategies to succeed in exams and in further life. 7 ) Try to revise all the past question papers. 8 ) Unplug from social media . Using social media for 15 to 20 minutes is a good mode of relaxing but becomes dangerous when you keep on scrolling news feed for 2 to 3 hours which somewhere results in increasing your stress level. 9 ) Forget your past performances. Just remember that you are never too late to start. So without thinking about your past performance start thinking about your future which is still in your hands. 10 ) Don't skip your food . It's proved that a healthy mind and body tends to summarise the things more quickly and efficiently. 11 ) Listening to soft and calm music has a relaxing effect on our body and which would initially decrease our stress level.
Mehak Yadav-VI A Article-Change Your Mindset To Achieve Success Published On-3rdDec2019
It is well said by Max Depree that ‘We can’t become what we want by remaining what we are ‘.Changes add spice to our lives otherwise the life will be like stagnant water which is motionless and gradually we become directionless too. Generally people can be found making castles in the air about what they would become in life but they forget that without putting efforts and bringing change in their present nature of working , the expected change would just be a far-fetched idea. Achieving success demands changing. True achievers are always submissive to accept all the challenges .They mould their present to meet the demands of the future which they intend to create for themselves. To become what we want, we need to change the mindset first; we will have to push ourselves harder against all odds and will have to peep out of our comfort zones. Don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps. Always keep in mind that life is a race and if you do not run faster than you would be thrown out forever and someone else will take the charge. People with laid back attitude never grow. We have often seen people boasting of changing the world but they forget that if each one of us change ourselves ----the whole world will change and prosperous . Always remember that to be perfect we need to change our strategies very often. Nothing is inaccessible. Everything you can do if you believe in yourself. So always and always remember that, to bring change in ourselves is hard because it stretches us but not difficult. So, time is to head fearlessly into new territories with a belief that the best is yet to come.

His ability, confidence and aggressiveness is the only reason which makes him the Indian cricket team captain. In ODI matches he was the only player who scored 62 centuries. When he was 3 years old he becomes interested in cricket. His father, Perm Kohli is the only one who encourages him in cricket. Only because of his father today Kohli is counted in one of the best players in cricket. Other than farmers and masons if there is any other person on this earth who toil hard under this blue umbrella --- is the sportspersons .They sweat hard to prove their mettle in their respective areas . There are many young sportspersons who have proved an asset to the nation and has taken it to its new heights. Many young sportspersons like Virat Kohli , Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni have their unique qualities to be admired . These are the most famous personalities whom people follow, love and get inspired. People are so crazy about such personalities that they prefer to look like them , prefer to eat what they eat, prefer to wear what they wear and the list goes on. But I personally admire Phogat sisters the most .When their Biopic got released it became a superhit. Being a girl myself I feel proud that the girls who are considered fair yet feeble sex are no less than boys in any respect. They belonged to a small town in Haryana --- a place where girls are not allowed to see dreams and the circumstances never favour them still these sisters not only shown courage to break all social shackles but also took India to a new level in wrestling.. I really appreciate their efforts . It is always said ‘Behind each successful man there is a woman’ but the irony here is that behind the success of these sisters is their father , Mahavir Phogat , who always stood by them like a strong pillar . It is because of his efforts and the phogat sisters’ strong ambition that today Geeta Phogat is a freestyle wrestler, it is she who brought India’s first ever gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games in 2010. She has seen many ups and downs in her life but none could break her spirit. In a nutshell ,I would like to say that I wish all the girls to have spirit like them .It may be difficult but not impossible to turn their dreams into reality... as even impossible says --- ‘I –AM- Possible’.

Vanshika VIII D Article -How Technology Took Over Published On-14Nov2019
It is said that’ Childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies’ but it is pity that parents these days unknowingly making their children stand at the edge of a dangerous pit of their never ending expectations , risking their innocent children's life each moment. Our grandparents and parents were lucky who spent their childhood before the technology took over. They played in the laps of vast nature without restricting themselves to any set boundaries decided by parents . Pt Jawaharlal Nehru had a deep love for children but it is pity chachu .....the modern children are no more considered kids ....they have no time for play ....homework ,assignments , projects and lot many more things like this have given them nothing but stress and depression at a very young age . We have become living robots who at the commands of teachers, parents , tutors and coaches perform the desired tasks. We rarely experience that tender touch of our loved ones hands on our forehead No idea when video games took the place of bedtime stories . Shifting to nuclear families from joint families has also affected childhood .Our previous generation was lucky to live in joint families which was in itself was full of excitement, love and togetherness. They had less stress of studies. They need not be given lessons of moral values rather they themselves used to understand sharing, caring, kindness and togetherness while growing up . Where is the childhood lost? Who should be held responsible for snatching it ? perhaps the circumstances . The increasing crimes in our societies prevent parents from sending their children out. Due to their busy schedule parents have no quality time to spend with their children . So children find solace in the company of gadgets like smart phones and laptops.. But whatever the reasons be childhood is a precious period for every child and it is his right to take out most of it . It is rightly called ‘Childhood is the most beautiful of life ‘s all seasons ‘ So , let’s celebrate it under the colourful umbrella of ethics , order and discipline .

His other trademark is his curved pipe and a magnifying glass in hand. Another of Holme’s specialties is his wonderful disguises, from groom to priests, clergyman to opium smoker, all of which have been much needed to gain information or as a way to escape from the criminals. Arthur created a very realistic character in Sherlock Holmes and his influence can be seen in movies, television, books, plays, among others.
